My Preliminary Front Cover.

This is my Preliminary task for my front cover. I am unsure whether or not to change it for my proper front cover. My contents page has already been done.

Evalutaion
My magazine is clearly for a Niche market rather than a mass market. I thought that aiming for a mass market would be too far wawy from the magazine I wil be eventually producing. It could be seen for a Mass Market as it is aimed for the sixth form but younger year groups may be enticed into reading.
- My front cover is conventional and typical in that the Masthead is in the top third of the page as it stands out to the readers. Also, the '6th' gives you a as the reader an idea who the magazine is for.
- I have also added personal pronouns to make the reader feel more involved and as if the writer cares about the readers. Also makes them want to read more as they think that they are the subject in the magazine.
- I have used the Pugs 'UP AND COMING EVENTS' to entice and lure people into reading the magazine. From seeing this they want to continue reading. Furthermore, the 'More inside' increases their 'want' to continue reading.
- Although I have used different colours, they all corrospond with the school therefore they are appropriate for my magazine cover. Also, the 'Up and Coming Events' and 'The Model' student use the same colour font as the contents page which allows it to flow better.
- Convetionally as, I have added the date and issuse number to keep the readers informed about the magazine.
- I have used original photography and photoshop for my image on the cover. It is convetional as it is at MCU and it dominates the bottom half of the page. In this case, the bottom right.
- This was produced in Microsoft Publisher.

The Contents Page

- Unlike all famous magazine designers, I have produced this in Microsoft Publisher.
- Conventionally, i have used different headings with the page number so it directs readers to the artical they want to see more. Like mentioned, I have used the same colour as it links the front cover and contents together.
- This image was not meant to be used however, we shall replace it for a different image which is more apropriate for the contents.
- We also used an image that is related to the school which allows most of the readers to relate to it. However, we may remove this specific image as it has no relevance to what has been mentioned.
- I have also used topics such as sports which adds variety to my contents page and also changes the range of my readers.

The Masthead is in the top third fitting the conventional magazine cover and furthermore, there is the barcode and date away from the main features of the magazine. I have used pugs to entice the audience into wanting to read more and furthermore, I have used personal pronouns to make the readers feel more involved with what their reading.

Like the other magazine covers, we had to add the codes and convetions of  a normal magazine. To this, i added the date in the bottom right hand corner as it didnt effect the other main features of the magazine. My main cover line was 'Sneaky Snaps'. I used repetition as it is effective and also makes the 'S' stand out. It is also called sybilance. I also used the shape of a star as it stands out the readers as it is large.

Like the previous magazine, it hasn't placed its masthead in the top third to break the typical conventions of a magazine. So, as this magazine has done this, i have chosen to use colloquial language 'Brum fun' as it associates itself with the target niche audience which in this case appears to be Big Brother fans. It also assumes that the audience are that enticed in this magazine that they know they are referred to as people from 'Brum'. I have also used a well known figure to make more people want to continue or chose to read the magazine. The title/masthead 'Fr33dom' is suggestive in that people become free in reading this magazine and it  may also show that people who read this are different from others as the word 'Fr33dom' is purposely spelt wrong.

Codes and Conventions Film_ X

This magazine is clearly for a niche audience as the image is very up forward. Aswell as this, i have used the personal pronoun in the main cover line to make the target audience feel one with the writer. Seeing as the masthead is in the left hand rather than the the left third, I decided to put the main cover line above the image to firstly make its appearance stand out and also to challenge the codes and conventions of a real magazine. I have also used a rhetorical question to appeal to audience as it makes it more intriguing.
Like all magazine I have produced a a date in the bottom right hand corner purposely to ensure it doesn't interfere with any of the main conventions. I have also used a pug line to try and indulge the reader into buying the magazine. If they can see that there is tickets or movies etc to be won then they will more than likely open read the magazine to win what is inside.

IPC Media

This is a link to IPC.com. IPC media produces todays most known magazines such as NME, Now and Pick me up. Its huge variety for people ensures that it has a magazine for almost everybody. I have analysed which magazines work well and may include them in my magazine cover. Some of them however do not appeal to me therefore i will not use them. I will prbably use the NME magazine as a basis to work upon.
