Q Magazine Front Cover.

Firstly to comment on this front cover is that is has the conventional masthead in the top third of the page saying 'Q'. However, in this magazine, the masthead seems to be priority over the main image hence why it over takes it. It is as if they want the whole world to know who they are.

Secondly to comment on is the main image. The image is of a music, pop legend, Michael Jackson. This is used as having his picture on the magazine would make the readers feel he reads it so they would want to read it too, to be like him. Also, it relates a very famous person to the magazine making it more and more popular.

This magazine unconventionally doesn't follow a house style, which I think is un-effective. If it followed a house style. it would look more neat and tidy and most likely, grab more readers.

It also uses a pug 'Michael Jackson....'. This entices the readers into reading and turning over the page as they want to read more about an iconic figure. This is the most effective part of this magazine because it is again relating the magazine to famous people. This pug is also considered a coverline and around it to the right 'The Killers...' are sub coverlines that are little tasters for the readers.

Lastly and conventionally, the barcode and date take up little space as they aren't the main focus.
